Welcome. ILMF 2013 was a top-notch conference in all respects and I am looking forward to having the presentations available for further review. To follow up on GeoDigital's LiDAR as Art 2 contest the winners have been announced. Once again kudos to Anna Maria Kotlowska and her team for making this happen.
Sustainability is a concept that may not seem to be directly connected with 3D laser scanning, but in addition to the fact that sustainability should be pervasive in most of the things we do, as Randy Tardy points out, it is connected through visualization: Designs—some might say geodesigns—can be guided and improved by sustainable principles through a 3D visualization of the proposed project. Documenting the existing conditions is where laser scanning and LiDAR come in.
Remember you can choose to receive either a digital or hard copy of LiDAR Magazine on our website. We thank you for your ongoing support in building this professional community.

Sustainability Started with Context Sensitive Solutions: Randy Tardy – Ironically the guide for highway design is referred to as the “Green” book. Today the term “green” is associated with design and construction of sustainable solutions.
