Written by GEO
Tuesday, 05 March 2013

As final preparations commence for the inaugural  GEO-North event on 07 March 2013 at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, UK, GEO-North  the organisers have announced more headline grabbing seminar topics as well as  bumper list of sponsor organisations.

Dr Robert Barr, Visiting  Professor at the University of Liverpool, Council Member of the Association for  Geographic Information and Councillor for Warrington Borough Council, will  present a lively debate on Open Data while Mark Workman of Leica Geosystems will  explore laser scanning monitoring solutions. These sessions complement an  already packed seminar programme which includes topics such as Building  Information Modelling (BIM), the next generation of airborne sensors, education  and training for GIS as well as geodata solutions for highways management.

The one day programme will kick off with a keynote from Bob  McEwan, HP’s (Hewlett Packard) Presales Manager and Chief Technologist for UK  and Ireland, who will regale the audience with technological insights from the  past, complete with props, and his own inimitable look into the future. Other speakers include Dr Anne Kemp, Technical Director at Atkins, Chris Little an experienced trainer and educator as well as Andrew Blogg, Director at Digital Mapping & Survey. Brecht Lonneville of Gatewing, Peter Taylor of Spheron and  Richard Groombrisge of GeoPlace will also present. The day’s proceedings will  come to a close with a panel discussion led by Robin Waters, Editor of GIS  Professional and Director of RSW Geomatics followed by a free to attend drinks  reception.

GEO-North has also attracted support from some of the  best known names from the world of geomatics and GIS including the Association  for Geographic Information (AGI), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors  (RICS), UNIGIS UK and GIS247. Commercial supporters include platinum sponsors  Phoenix and M&P Survey plus GeoPlace, Cadline, C.SCOPE, GEO Survey,  Handheld, Carlson Software, Speedy Services, Spheron, South Survey, Mobile GIS  Services and Z+F Laser UK. Other supporters include Applications in CADD (AiC),  APR Services, Digital Mapping & Surveys (DM&S), First for Survey,  Gateway, Leica Geosystems, Location-Source, SCCS and Zenith Survey  Equipment.

Taking place, for the first time, on the 07 March 2013  at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, UK, GEO-North offers the complete exhibition  experience that makes the GEO-Events so popular. The event is completely free to  attend and benefits to pre-registered visitors include free parking,  refreshments including lunch and access to the onsite programme of informative,  inspirational and stimulating seminars and debates.

Online  registration has closed but visitors are free to attend and can register onsite.
Online registration remains open for the GEO-South event which takes place on the 1-2 May 2013 at the Holiday Inn, Elstree.
